The twentieth solo exhibition of Professor Dr. Safa Lotfi, titled "Lucid," was held at The Gallery in Baghdad from Thursday, May 7, 2026, to Thursday, May 25, 2026. Through this exhibition, Dr. Safa Lotfi presents her artistic experience through works that focus on light as an element that transforms the scene and bestows upon it its visual value.
In these works, color does not appear as a fixed element but rather as a fluid state that changes with the surface, the angle of view, and the composition of the painting.
Through transparent layers and carefully considered accumulations of color, the light appears to emanate from within the canvas.
Iraqi nature is depicted here through water features, towering palm trees, mud houses, and rural pathways—familiar elements that acquire a new presence through the interplay of light.
These compositions, which combine the realism of the scene with the impressionism of the moment, are imbued with a visually rich and emotionally charged impact. In Lucid, light plays a fundamental role in shaping the artwork, opening the scene to a visual energy akin to a window, possessing its own unique clarity.
