The (Arts of Ancient Civilizations / Visual Reading) book by Professor Dr. Safa Lutfi that has issued by the Cultural Center for Printing and Publishing (The book has three chapters with 203 pages),the author put the reader on the threshold of important civilizations that provided humanity with various knowledge and arts from painting, sculpture, pottery, and architecture. The author of the book has studied those types of arts in a number of ancient human civilizations. The three chapter of the book have covered different aspects of the arts in different civilizations. The first chapter included the knowledge and arts of the Mesopotamian civilization, the second chapter reviewed the Egyptian civilization, and the third chapter dealt with the knowledge and arts of Greek civilization. In the introduction to the book, the author stated that the Mesopotamian civilization is one of the oldest civilizations whose ideas still enlighten the world. Sumerians were the first who invented the chariot, then Babylonian mathematicians preceded Pythagoras in his mathematical theories, and Assyrians were the builders of a strong civilization and the founders of artistic anatomy in its most beautiful form through their sculptures to explain the anatomy of the muscles of humans and animals alike. Then the Egyptian civilization came with its unique architecture, beautiful photography, and other arts. After that, the Greek civilization came to complement the advanced civilization achievements established by its predecessors. The author emphasized that there is no doubt that art represents the best expression of the life of a group of people by embodying their ideas, traditions, and customs and producing them in works of art. The important thing is their survival for many years telling generations the story of the civilization of those ancestors. The book also included a visual study of the most important achievements of the trilogy of ancient civilization: Mesopotamia, Egyptian civilization, and Greek civilization.
